The 2021 Organiser

Portuguese Space Agency – Portugal Space
Portugal Space is an organisation that was created by the Portuguese government to implement the National Strategy for Space (Portugal Space 2030). The agency’s primary purpose is to promote and strengthen the country’s space sector – including the corresponding ecosystem and value chain – to the benefit of society and the economy in Portugal and the rest of the world by acting as a business and development unit for research entities and companies. In addition to coordinating the country’s participation in ESA, ESO, EST, and the SKA Organization, Portugal Space is a national representative to the European Commission for matters related to space – including the European Union Space Program and Horizon Europe – and has a seat on the board of the GSA (which is to become the EUSPA).

The 2021 Partners

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN)

Instituto Pedro Nunes
Created in 1991 through a University of Coimbra initiative, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is a private non-profit organisation which promotes innovation and the transfer of technology in order to establish connections between scientific and technological environments and the production sector. In the space sector, IPN is the coordinator of ESA Space Solutions Portugal and has wide-ranging experience in initiatives related to entrepreneurship and innovation at the level of both ESA and the European Commission.

Nova SBE
Boasting a history that dates back over 40 years, the Nova School of Business and Economics is the top education institution in Portugal for business, finance, and economics. This is the result of its demanding and rigorous approach to education and research, its internationalisation efforts, and its bold and vanguardist culture.

VCW Lab
The Value Creation Wheel Lab at Nova SBE has wide-ranging experience in working with different types of organisations, from start-ups to large corporations and on through to NGOs and other entities. The lab also has experience in the space domain and is currently participating in two H2020 projects. The VCW Lab promotes the VCW method used by many organisations to innovate and take decisions in overcoming specific challenges.

AIR Centre
The Atlantic International Research Centre is an international collaborative organisation that promotes an integrative approach to space, climates, energy, and the ocean environment in the Atlantic. The AIR Centre is driven by emerging technological innovations and advances in data science and supports such efforts itself.
