Austria Research Promotion Agency (FFG)
The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the national funding institution for applied research and development in Austria and offers a comprehensive range of services for enterprises, research institutions and researchers. FFG’s Aeronautics and Space Agency connects these entities with the international aerospace world. It implements Austria’s aerospace policy, and represents the country at international aerospace committees, including ESA. The Austrian Space Applications Programme (ASAP), meanwhile, funds research on space science, technology, and applications. Finally, as the central interface between Austrian interests and European programmes, FFG’s Galileo contact point supports Austria’s competencies in the field of satellite navigation and interacts with the GNSS community.

The Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility Innovation and Technology (BMK) provides a general framework for infrastructure from rail to road, water and air to telecommunications and technology development in Austria. Austrian space activities (ESA, EU, EUMETSAT and the national space programme ASAP) are under the jurisdiction of the BMK and are implemented by the Aeronautics and Space Agency of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, FFG.

Science Park Graz

Science Park Graz

Science Park Graz is the reference business incubator of the Austrian AplusB startup network and the manager of the ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Austria. Since 2002, Science Park Graz has been the driving force for the development of successful startups from the academic world. Additionally, it is a key partner for 200 startups and entrepreneurial projects in Graz, Styria and beyond, providing access to business and technical networks, coaching, funding and office accommodation.

ESA Business Incubation Centre (BIC) Austria

The ESA BIC Austria is the place for entrepreneurs from research centres, universities, space and non-space business seeking to realise their innovative ideas and transfer technologies from space (e.g. navigation, telecommunications, satellite data) to other areas of the economy (e.g. logistics, health, tourism, environment, energy). ESA BIC Austria provides innovative business ventures with a EUR 50,000 grant for prototyping and IPR, business and technical support as well as full immersion into the ESA BIC network of more than 700 space-related startups.
